Activities and Therapies
At ROXY AVENUE we promote Activities of Daily Living at every opportunity. The Home’s individual and group therapies and outings, both on and offsite, consider resident’s interests, skills and experiences, needs and medical conditions. They may include the following, although this list is not exhaustive, and activities may rotate:
- Cooking and daily living skills
- Shopping
- Cleaning
- Budgeting
- Planning
- Household tasks (laundry, gardening etc)
- Decision making
- Problem solving
- Residents meetings
Therapeutic Activities
Mental and physical health can be greatly improved by giving people the opportunity to manage their clinical care in parallel with natural holistic approaches to life.
During the warmer months, ROXY AVENUE provides residents with opportunities to undertake local farm visits which are well received and enjoyed by them. Our trained support staff offer complimentary therapies and support, combined with our professional team of clinical excellence, we give a balanced approach to management of residents’ needs. Additionally, residents are supported to self-care wherever possible. ROXY AVENUE has a display of healthcare leaflets and supports residents to access services which empower them to manage their health and wellbeing in a safe and supported way.
Educational Activities
Irrespective of age, residents can continue to learn, and educational activities are promoted. Courses can be recreational or academic but will still be considered educational.
Courses like the arts and crafts, painting, certificate in basic computer literacy, problem solving skills and skills of flower arranging etc.
Work Related activities
Residents of ROXY AVENUE may wish to undertake paid or voluntary work and what they will have to offer an employer will be dependent upon many factors. We support residents in their pursuit of employment such as CV writing, numeracy and literacy, use of computers, Microsoft Office Applications etc.
Recreational Activities
The Recreational activities can include (but not limited to)
- Visiting clubs, restaurants, and car-booting sales
- Going to cinema
- Walks and picnics in woods and on the beach.
- Horse raiding
- Meeting friends and attending parties
- In-house recreational activities
- Swimming and gym
- Local fetes and shows
- Church and religious establishment visits
- One-to-one sessions
- Arts and Crafts
- Singing and Music Workshops
- Local farm visits
